the day after
@timothyrhyme in the basement for Vintage Tour Tonight! Who loves Hip-Hop?
It’s been a while since a new hip-hop artist has made his way in the music industry the old-fashioned / grass roots way by paying his dues with seedy small venue / club gigs and self-promotion. This is one rising hip hop star that hasn’t bought his way into the game, been born into a famous family, won a reality TV show, or emerged from a teen cable TV sitcom. He did it the way you are supposed to. He booked and played gigs any and everywhere he could while continuing to self-promote and build a fan base as well as good business relationships. He goes by the name Timothy Rhyme. Born to a schizophrenic mother and an unknown father, Timothy Rhyme has had to conquer obstacles since birth that, statistically, many would never be able to overcome. Constantly clawing his way through life, Timothy Rhyme faced imprisonment, fought addictions, and stared death in the face. Needless to say, these trials and tribulations did not prevent him from starting his own business, graduating from college and excelling in his musical endeavors. Although his story reads like a movie script, he remains humble and driven. Timothy Rhyme has been nominated California’s “Outstanding Emcee” twice, placed on URB’s Next 1000, featured on the cover of Submerge Magazine, sponsored by various companies, and been on tour. Not only has he gained the respect from his peers, Timothy Rhyme has been honored to have shared the stage with legends in this field like Immortal Technique, Chino XL, Dead Prez, The Jacka, Andre Nickatina, Blu, The Living Legends, Canibus, Heiorglyphics and more. Timothy Rhyme is real, edgy, versatile, sharp and creative. He encompasses what the next generation of hip hop should have the privilege of witnessing.
We are doing some seriously fun time traveling tonight to 50’s & 60’s Rock & Soul! come party with us tonight @basement_eav!
TONIGHT Saturday May 19th - Cause 4 Concern - Atlanta, GA!
BILLIONAIRE BASS BRAWL returning in May. The battle continues…
WOBBLE HOUSE PRESENTS: BILLIONAIRE BASS BRAWL 2012
ROUND 1 CONTESTANTS:
BILLIONAIRE BASS BRAWL DJ BATTLE RULES
**RULES: Contestants will be playing on a Pioneer DJM 800, CDJ 1000s or Technics 1200s, Serato or Tracktor. Thats it. This is a DJ competition. You CANNOT play any original tracks or any other mash up or remix that YOU have touched. Other than that go hard or go home! #1 Rule is to have a fucking good time and to each meet one another and help our music scene grow!
—DJ GIMPMODE (RIP)
Last year was a strictly dubstep battle and some contestants chose to go outside of the genre and lost points for doing so. This year, we have decided to allow all genres of BASS music though we expect that dubstep will likely dominate the stage since it seems to be the favorite in the Atlanta EDM scene.
Contestants will perform 20 minute sets and be scored based on three criteria:
BEATLAB will be providing DJ equipment and technician so contestants may concentrate 100% on their performance!
Contestant and Judge submissions should be sent to BillionaireBassBrawl@gmail.com
